Shared Values

The Shared Values of CPI and PAM

This is a list of the convictions and beliefs that determine our priorities, influence our decisions, drive our organizations, and are always demonstrated by our behavior:

The Mission of God

We believe that all that we do is in response to God’s great love for us and his passionate love for our Haitian friends. We are overtly driven by and oriented around a Christian view of all things. This dictates not only our vision and mission, but also our strategy. We are joining God’s mission and agenda in Haiti and will do so in a manner consistent with the lead missionary of our cause – Jesus Christ.

Multiplying Leaders

We believe the accomplishment and future of our mission is largely dependent on our commitment to recognize and equip leaders who will embody the character and mission of Christ. This means that we want to equip leaders who will enter every sphere of society in Haiti and bring the power of change with them.

Reproducing Ministry Models

We value the God-ordained principle of reproduction. Healthy organisms grow and reproduce. Our desire is to see every program and process that we start multiplied and duplicated in a deliberate fashion.

Haitian Life and Culture

We value the unique and beautiful aspects of Haitian life and culture and expect that God will uniquely express His Kingdom in and through them. We do not wish to inject or subversively introduce an American version of Christianity into Haiti through PAM. Rather, we value the unique expression of God’s Kingdom through Haitian life and culture.

Relational Health

We believe that our love for God is measured by our love for those around us. For this reason, we value relationships that are marked by honesty, selflessness, humility, courage, respect, and grace. When there is conflict, we will use every God-honoring means to work for reconciliation and long-term friendships.

Fellow Humans

It may seem rather obvious to some, but we don’t take this for granted. We value every human on the planet. We believe that every person is an image-bearer of God and should be treated with respect, dignity, and love. We value what God values and He loves people!

Prayer

We have a deep, unwavering belief that only God can provide what is needed for us to pursue and accomplish our mission. We are radically dependent on Him and therefore place a high value on the privilege and power of prayer.

God’s Holistic Kingdom Mission

We understand all that we have set out to accomplish within the framework of the Kingdom of God. Jesus said that he came to bring His Father’s Kingdom to earth. Jesus taught his disciples to pray, “Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your Kingdom come [which would entail], your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Jesus is currently bringing His Father’s Kingdom to earth through His followers. As Christians, we have tended to spiritualize the implication of Jesus’ prayer focusing on personal piety or religious experience. We believe Jesus meant much more than that. We believe Jesus intends for us to work for personal and societal change from a more holistic perspective. If it is not as God intended it to be – we will seek to bring His power and resources to bear and restore it. This will include the spiritual, emotional, social and physical realms. Although His Kingdom will not be fully expressed or experienced until the second coming, we believe substantial and significant demonstration of His Kingdom is happening right now.

The Authority of God’s Word

We value the centrality and authority of God’s Word applied to every area of life. We believe this common value, more than any other, shapes and anchors our vision, mission and strategy and also the lives of all we seek to love.
